Second Ultrasound

We have had two ultrasounds so far. The first was two weeks ago at 5wks and 3days. I requested that ultrasound and my doctor who is very patient, did it for me no problem. Since I have had an ectopic pregnancy, I was worried about the pregnancy implanting in my remaining tube. The ultrasound showed, all was good and that the pregnancy was indeed, where it was supposed to be.

The ultrasound yesterday was to find a heartbeat. Very nerve wracking and exciting all rolled into one. It didn't take long for the doctor to find the heartbeat, I was so relieved and filled with joy. Yesterday was truly and amazing moment for us. We go back in two weeks for another ultrasound, we can't wait! Above is a picture of little itty bitty measuring an astounding 10mm (:

Nervous ... and Excited

Well, if you are reading this, I have finally let people know I have a blog! At this moment, as I write this, no one knows. Actually, Heidi may know but she doesn't have the address(: At first I wanted a place I could come and discuss everything including our infertility struggles but then I re-thought things and decided not to include any of that. After 1 year of trying on our own and one failed round of IVF, we are expecting a baby! It is still very early so we have only told family and close friends. It is a bit differant with IVF. People know you are doing it, so they know that in a certain amount of time you either ARE or your AREN'T ... kind of bizzare. At any rate, I am nervous ... VERY excited and hopeful but nervous. I am praying that I make it through the first trimester and continue on through a normal pregnancy. Of course I hope this story ends with a beautiful healthy baby! I am a little over 6 weeks - SO early. Our little guy or girl is due March 17th, St. Patty's day! I hope that things go well over the next few weeks so that I can comfortable share this with all of you!

Believe in Yourself

It is so important to believe in yourself. Believe that you can do it, under any circumstances. Because if you believe you can, then you really will. That belief just keeps you searching for the answers, and then pretty soon you get it.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

Every time words are spoken, something is created. Be conscious of what you say and how you say it. Use words that build up, appreciate, encourage and inspire.

Lucy MacDonald

Sexual Exhaustion?

I went to a Love and Logic training today. Jim Fay, the "creator" was the presenter. It was informative and funny. He told a couple of pretty entertaining stories. It was cute because he is pretty old! He mentioned that he and his wife have been married for almost 52 years! Amazing ... Rob and I are going on 2 years, I can't imagine what another 50 feels like! I bet the relationship evolves into something unexplainable. Anyway, the fact that he has been married for 52 years gives you an idea of how old he is, which made it all the more comical when he used words like "bitch." Hee.. hee. The story that was extra funny to me went like this. It was a state testing day (for us, a WASL day), and a middle school student refused to start working on his test. When his teacher asked him "Jake, what's the problem, why aren't you working?" The boy replied "sexual exhaustion." Now at this point, Jim Fay went on to explain that sometimes we just have NO idea what to do OR say! So the teacher says to him "well, why don't you just use your other hand to write?" I was dying, I'm not sure if it's because it was kind of a stuffy crowd, so that made it all the more comical or if it really was that funny! I still think it's pretty funny!

Quotes

I love quotes, I always have. The power of words is amazing. I like to have lots of positive words around me at work. Lord knows, thinking positively when I'm there is not always easy! My office is filled with quotes hanging on the wall, and I often refer to them when I talk to kids. So I think I will post a quote as often as I can. They make you think, I like that! Here is my first one!

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
